Formation and development of the department of foreign languages have carried out in state and Russian languages since 1962. The department of English at our university was organized (the head of the chair was G.I. Stambekova) in 1962. The members of the chair were L.I. Cherkashyna, I.Y. Devyatova, D.Sh. Yesengalieva, M.A. Khamitova and others. Requirements of learning foreign languages were increasing and the stuff of the chair was also expanding. A year later it was enlarged by the teachers – graduates from the leading institutes of our country, such as B.I. Likhobabin, L.S. Kirillova, M.I.Palatov, L.A. Kopistko M.V. Chechetko, K.A. Khabibullina. The talented graduates, who dedicated their working career to serving for jobs of teaching foreign languages such as: A.S.Zybina, T.V.Lee, E.A.Utesheva, T.I.Nurusheva, G.P.Nuralina, N.P.Nevkina, N.K. Alekhina came to work at the chair in 1966-1967. These teachers formed the basis of the foreign languages faculty which was established in 1972. Having absolute linguistic abilities, desire to perfect their methodological skills, love for improvisation, theatrical abilities, they ensured success of the faculty in training of highly qualified pedagogical personnel.

In 1970 the chair was enlarged by teachers, who came to work from other institutes of the former Soviet Union: Buxbaum B.G., Simakov G.V., Larshin N.M., Makhneva N.A.

English, German, French and Spanish were taught at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in those years. The first dean of the Foreign Languages Faculty was M.I. Palatov, who had broad linguistic ken and taught Latin, English and Spanish.

At the faculty of foreign languages there were three chairs: the chair of phonetics and grammar of the English language, the chair of English philology and the chair of the second foreign language (German and French). The heads of the chairs were L.S. Kirillova, L.A. Kopistko, E.A. Utesheva, N.A. Kushkenbayev, A.G. Abukhanova, M.K. Bisimaliyeva , N.P. Nevkina, I.M. Minina, N.D. Divina-Osipian, A.E. Niyazova.

In 1991 The Republic of Kazakhstan declared its independence. In 2002 635 km. export pipeline construction was completed, which connected the Karachaganak oil and gas field with the Caspian oil pipeline consortium (CPC). In 2003 the Second phase of manufacturing entity was officially opened by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev. These events caused the necessity of organizing the chair of the theory and practice of translation in WKSU after M.Utemisov. The chair was founded in 2003. The permanent head of the chair in 2006-2009 was the Candidate of Philological Sciences, associate professor A.G.Abukhanova. The chair provided the graduation of specialists-translators for the needs of the West Kazakhstan region and whole Western region of Kazakhstan.

The opening of magistracy is a very important milestone in the history of foreign language teaching. The transition to the credit system of education and training specialists in the biennial magistracy is a difficult task, which requires new professionals and development of new courses. These courses are conducted by A.G. Abukhanova, M.V. Chechetko, M.K. Bisimaliyeva, Z.Zh. Amanbayeva. The Magistracy in the speciality “Foreign language: two foreign languages” was organized in 2003. The first masters were A.V. Drozdov, V.T. Sadretdinova, and then tens of works followed, in which the master scientific theme of the chair and its leading personnel, their scientific orientation and school is clearly traced. Associate professor Chechetko led the English Philology Chair during the years of transition, change and sustainable professional learning of teachers and translators. The period of her heading , intermittently, is 26 years. M.V. Chechetko graduated The Saratov Pedagogical Institute and also the full-time post graduate courses in MSU after M.V. Lomonosov. She linked her interests with the various problems of literature of the countries, where this language is started, the area of comparative literature studying and study of a literary text, as well as the methods problem of the use of dramatization in teaching language and literature. M.V. Chechetko is an author of 70 scientific works, 4 methods manuals, a managing editor of the book about Jane Austen, published in the edition “Book”, a scientific adviser of many graduate projects and Master’s theses. Having a theatrical education, she was at the head of University theatres “Veschie sestry” and “Echo” for many years and she prepared materials on the use of dramatization in teaching.

The candidate of Pedagogic Sciences T.V. Lee dedicated more than 40 years to the foreign language teaching. She led the chair of foreign languages for many years and then she was a dean of The Foreign Language Faculty. Being a great specialist in methods of teaching foreign languages, T.V. Lee was a corresponding member of St. Petersburg’s APN, a scientific adviser of many graduate projects and Master’s theses.

During a long history of the faculty a lot of prominent specialists worked there. They glorified the University and did a lot for teaching students. First of all it is Doctor of Philological Sciences M.K. Bisimalieva. She rose from a teacher to Doctor of Philological Sciences on the speciality. M.K. Bisimalieva was the head of the chair of phonetics and grammar. After 2004 the chair was led by N.D. Divina-Osipian, A.E. Niyazova, S.I. Kadyrgaliyeva, A.G. Abukhanova.

Several generations of teachers worked at the chair for nearly five decades. T.I. Nurusheva is a senior lecturer, who has been working for 48 years at the chair and still continues to work bright, energetic, in step with the times. T.I. Nurusheva – an experienced teacher of the practice of English language and grammar, she is senior lecturer in Comparative typology of languages, stylistics, functional stylistics, Methodist, who has great prestige among students, and also among school teachers in urban and rural schools, an author of 36 scientific articles in collections of ZKGU, university collections and abroad, one of the most experienced curators throughout the 36 years, an author of textbooks in English. N.A. Mahiyeva, a great methodist, made a methods bank. A.M. Larshina successfully defended her PhD thesis on the use of role-playing games in training. Such experienced and initiative teachers as N.A. Kushkenbayev, M.B. Baradosova, A.G. Yakupova, R.B. Kinzheyeva, D.K. Aubakirova, K.M. Shunaybekova provided the training of the German language. The senior instructor P.Z. Buzhumova worked all her labor life at the chair. P.Z.Buzhumova, erudite, principle, exigent, taught the courses of lexicology and made a great contribution to the training of students. Untimely dead S.K. Bikenova worked at the chair for 25 years and taught French, Latin and gave the courses in the second foreign language methods.

Kismetova G.N. is an experienced leader and as head of the department, her track record counts 12 years. She is an author of 98 scientific works, including 16 textbooks for students in both full-time and part-time offices, 2 electronic textbooks, 76 scientific articles and 4 teaching aids approved RTMC and one textbook passed expertise in MES.

In 2014 1000 copies of teaching aids was published in publishing center "Bastau" English (24.5 pp.), which is replicated in all higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan. Kismetova G.N. is not only the head of the department, but also engaged in research work, which printed not only in the domestic publications, but also abroad. In 2016 published an article «Postmodernism trend in Kazakh novels» (On the basis of novels «Zharmak» by M. Magauin, «Deceptive world» by S. Elubay, «Flowers and books by D. Amantay»), with non-zero impact-factor in The Social Sciences journal 11 (20): 4808-4813 pp, 2016. ISSN: 1818-5800. Medwell Journals, 2016. Scopus.

In 2013 she was awarded with "Y. Altynsarin`s " chest sign for significant progress in the training and education of the younger generation. Kismetova G.N. has great prestige among students and also among her colleagues which she directs.

5В011900 – Foreign language: two foreign languages

Training the students for the specialty "Foreign language: two foreign languages" has carried out since 1962. Our graduates work in all corners of our country. During the period of gaining independence of our state there was a need for training of graduates of pedagogical training colleges. In this regard, the short form of training for this specialty was opened in 2000. Graduates with secondary specialized education have the opportunity to receive higher education in three years both in full-time and part-time offices; graduates with higher education are trained for 2 years. This system of training has allowed almost entirely to provide schools and colleges in our region. Length of training – 4 years. The department provides an educational program on the basis of SES RK 6.08.075-2010 and typical 2014 curriculum.

Today, training is conducted in the following areas:

- Full-time office (Bachelor) - 3 years (reduced), 4 years;

- Part-time office (Bachelor) - 2.3 years (reduced).

Graduate at the end of training on a specialty "Foreign language: two foreign languages" receives the degree "Bachelor of Education". In addition, the graduate has the opportunity to receive a specialty for additional educational programs: Translation Studies, German / French, guide-interpreter. Graduates can work as a teacher of English, German and French languages in secondary schools, high schools, colleges, gymnasiums, also as a junior research staff in universities and research institutions and foreign language translators in companies.

Training the students for the specialty 6М011900 "Foreign language: two foreign languages" has carried out since 2003, license –12019665, 2012. Length of training – 2 years. The department provides an educational program on the basis of SES RK 7.09.142-2010 and typical 2013 curriculum. Graduate at the end of training on a specialty 6М011900 "Foreign language: two foreign languages" receives a master's degree of pedagogical sciences in specialty Foreign language: two foreign languages.

In order to implement the principles of the state policy and the establishment of a modern model of higher education in the framework of a regional university, strategic documents, programs and plans are developed, adopted and updated systematically in ZKGU.

The purpose of the educational program: formation of professionals, who speak foreign languages ​​at the level recognized by the international community, and provide the needs of the Kazakhstan society, the attainment of which is possible through the following tasks:

1. Formation of a specialist holding in each of the studied languages:

· Basic foreign language in accordance with the requirements of the European standard;

· Foreign language for academic purposes to ensure continuity in education between bachelor and magistracy;

· Foreign language for specific purposes in accordance with the narrow specialization.

2. Implementation of the internationally accepted level approach to teaching foreign languages, with considering peculiarities of the national education system.

3. Determination of training with considering the relationship of language and culture.

The mission is determined according to state educational standards and programs of Kazakhstan university development. Aims and objectives of the department strategies are satisfied with the goals and objectives of the University.
